Yesterday was my birthday and I turned 13. Instead of going out and buying new candles, my mom just used the "1" we had from last year and said "you are my number 1 son!" I'm also the only son. MBL.

Today, my aunt gave me $100 as a going away to college present. Even though deep down I wanted the money, I had to refuse about 3-4 times, tell her that she doesn't have to, call my mom over to argue with her, and then take the money with a humble look on my face, even though deep down I was very, very happy. Today, we found out that kids 5 and under eat free at iHop. My cousin is 8, but for one day we let him be 5 again. MBL.

Today, our A/C went out so I told my mom to call the A/C company. She said she would call them after 9, since that's when the free minutes start on our cell phone plan. My mom rather save her cell phone minutes than my life. MBL.

Today, I got a new blackberry cell phone. My friend wanted to see it so I gave it to her. She said "Here, let me peel off this plastic for you, it'll look much better." I felt like she just degraded the value of my phone. MBL.

Today, I got a present for my mom for the birthday. Instead of saying "Thank you beta" she said, "Where is the receipt, beta?" MBL.

Today, we got pulled over on the way to New Dehli. All it took was a bribe for 200 Rupees to be free again. MBL.

I live in America, but I go to India every year to see what it feels like being rich. MBL.

Today, my car stopped in the middle of the road. My uncle got his friends "AAA" (Triple A) card and told them that I was the card holders nephew. "AAA" (Triple A) totally fell for it and saved me. MBL.

Today, my mom drove an extra 10 miles to save 3 cents per gallon on gas. She still doesn't realize that she spent more money driving back and forth than she would have spending 3 cents more at the gas station next to our house. MBL.

Today, I went into my bathroom and realized that someone unscrewed 2 of the 4 lightbulbs. MBL.

Today, I couldn't wash my hands because we ran out of liquid soap. So my mom takes the soap bottle, adds water into it, and shakes it up. Problem solved. MBL.

Today, I saw a brown lady pushing her baby in a Wal-Mart cart. She wasn't going to or coming from Wal-Mart. MBL.
